  • Is there anything I should do to prepare for my waxing appointment?
Please ensure your hair is appropriate in length. Pregferably 1/4 of an inch long or two weeks with no shaving. Make sure the area to be waxed is freshly cleansed. Note: Facial waxing is NOT recommended for clients using Retin-A or oral acne medications, such as Accutane. If you are taking blood thinning medications, they can make your skin more sensitive and increase chances of irritation or other complications.
  • What can I expect for my first visit to Modern Image?
First time clients will be asked to fill out our intake/new client form and list any allergies or medications currently taking. Our esthetician will ask if yo want to fo completely bare or leace some hair as desired. We will go over the post-waxing procedure care with you and how best to keep your skin optimal post appointment.
  • What are the benefits in having waxing services done?
By waxing your body hair, it is removing it from the root. Your hair becomes softer and thinner the more you wax. The more you wax, also the less hair grows back. When switching to waxing more over than shaving, you have less irritation and smoother skin for longer periods of time.
  • Is waxing painful?
Our staff is highly experienced in all hair removal methods, which results in quick and precise services. We use hard wax on your face, undersarms and bikini areas, which yields almost a pain free experience.
  • How often should I have waxing done?
We recommend waxing every 3 1/2 to 4 weeks. This ensures the best results.
  • What exactly is a Female Brazilian?
All hair is removed from the puboc and genital area including the bikini line, labia and anal strip using hard wax. Some people prefer to have some hair left, while most prefer completely bare. It is all up to your personal choice.
  • What is a Male Brazilian
All hair is removed from the public, gential area, including the shaft, scrotum and anal strip using our hard wax. You can choose to go completely bare as most do, or leave some hair, as it is all your personal preference.
  • How long does a Brazilian or Mazilian appointment take?
Our estheticians do this all day and are slightly obsessed with perfection in their waxing skills. This means not only are they amazing in their craft, but you the client get the ultimate benefits. Typically your appointment shoudl take 15 to 20 minutes. This way you can easily go back to your busy day.
  • Can I wax during my menstrual cycle?
You CAN wax during this time, however, there is a possibility of higher skin sensitivity near or around your monthly cycle due to hormone changes. In order to perform the service effecively, we do ask that you take a shower right before your appointment and use appropriate feminine interior hygiene products (such as a tampon).
  • Will I get ingrown hairs from waxing?
While it is possible, make sure to continually exfoliate the waxed area at home during your daily skincare/cleansing routine. You can use a loofah or many on the market body exfoliating scrubs. We offer PFB Vanish, which is an amaazing product that works wonders on stubborn hairs.
  • How should I care for my newly waxed skin?
For the next 24 hours, avoid tanning beds or direct sunlight exposure, creams with fragrances, excercise, and excessive heat. A good loofah is recommended to be used a few times a week to keep the skin effectively exfoliated and smooth. AM Lactin lotion is a great over the counter product for full body hydration too.
  • Should I shave in between my waxing appointments?
NEVER! We do not recommend shaving if you are currentlyl waxing. This disrupts the hair cycle, plus you are more likely to experience ums, irritation and ingrown hairs.
  • I have an upcoming event - when should I schedule my wax appointment?
When you have a special event, occassion or vacation coming up, and espeicially if this is your first time waxing, we recommend scheduling two months prior to get your hair on the right cycle. The more often you wax, the better the results you will have. If this is not your first waxing, then we suggest scheduling a few days prior to your event.
